I'm interested in their history in general, not just on the Amiga.

It's for my own curiosity really

Space War on the PDP-1 (programmed in 1962) was the first shoot-em up, and also considered the first interactive computer game.

I was never a massive fan of (non-platformer) shoot-em-ups. I devived some pleasure from the creative side of SEUCK on the C64 and later Amiga tho, and 2 player G-Force 2 was great fun!
