Router, MiamiDX and port 113
« on: January 14, 2004, 03:26:38 PM »
Hi ya'll...

I'm pretty sure this topic has been discussed here before, but I couldn't afford a router until yesterday (3Com 3C857).

I've installed 2 PCs, Playstation 2 and 1 A4000D into it, all machies have good internet acces (DSL@512), but I found out I can't IDENT in AmIRC...

I've moved every settings in it but IRC says it can't find my IDENT server.

If I click in WHOIS Ronky I get the routers IP as my IP. I've searched into the router's setup but there's no place where I can opent port 113 (none that I know).

This is all I know about LANs, could some1 lend me a BIG hand and help me out to make my system "transparent" and firndly to use?  :-D

T.I.A

Use the router configuration page (you should be able to reach it with a browser, consult your manual for an URL). Find something called "Special Applications". Set 6667 as the trigger port and 113 as the public port. That should automatically open and redirect port 113 for whatever machine you go onto irc for.

If you don't have Special Applications, use Virtual Server and simply redirect port 113 to the machine that is online the most.

Thanx Kenny, This worked alright!

Now I have a 2nd problem, if I try to sdcc send something through AmIRC the reciever get's my host as "Amiga", and he can't recieve nothing I send... How can I override this and set my host as my domain?

Thanks
Ronky

You can use my brother's script SetTIADCC to set the IP from the IRC server. Use it on Miami (other TCP/IP stacks won't do).

Saludos Ronky :-)

P.S. If you find this script useful, please rate it!

Listen to Cass, he knows what he's talking about.

But remember also to open DCC ports, usually 1045-1055. You can add these to be triggered when 113 is.
