Error writing outside of partition?
« on: February 03, 2012, 09:51:22 PM »
Hey guys!

I'm a little stumped over a problem Ive been having.  Whenever I try to copy a file to my hard drive thats over approximately 2mb, I get an error saying I'm trying to write outside of the partition.  I'm using scsi.device 43.46, the partition sizes are 1gb and 3gb on a 4gb CF-IDE drive.  None of the partitions are anywhere close to full. Both partitions are formatted PFS3DS filesystem, maxtransfer at 0x00fe000 (or whatever it is, its not a maxtransfer problem).

The only thing I can think it might be is, I got rid of some Amiga ROM Update files in devs: that some (dunno which) boingbags installed?  But after I got rid of those files, my system started working twice as fast, icons popping up instantenous now etc.  Are those files needed for proper operation of OS3.9?  If so, how could i get them back, because im not sure which boingbag if any installed them.  And would there be a way to load them into fastmem?  Nothing in the startup sequence or user startup calls these files up.

If you can help I would really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance,
John

Use PFSDoctor to check the partition for errors and repair them.

How can you tell that it's not a MaxTransfer problem if you don't even know what the right value is?

BTW, I wouldn't trust some unofficial cosmic crap.
