Fast RAM Causes Workbench Not to Load
« on: January 08, 2004, 11:50:11 AM »
I am having a bit of trouble getting my Fast RAM to register.  When it is installed, the computer will not load Workbench.  It does show the kickstart screen asking for an OS however.  Also,  if I go to the pre-boot screen and do nothing but select boot...it will boot fine and the fast ram registers and all is well.  I have to do this with each boot though.  Is this a symptom of a dead battery?

Doubt it.  Battery and RAM have nothing in common, except sometimes being together on accelerator boards :-)

Methinks you should investigate dodgy RAM.

You have RAM your system doesnt like someplace. I have the same problem with two 32MB SIMMS I try to put in my CD MK III. It wont boot with them on under the installed WB3.9, but if I boot with WB 3.1 on floppy it works and shows up fine. Amiga is a picky system like that I guess.
