BTW How should I handle feedback for this transaction? Although the guy did take 2 full weeks after payment to ship it,

I would enter it as neutral and type. Item works well, took over two weeks to ship.

On another note. Several Amiga sellers on ebay are not so nice. I bought a CS MK III for $400 with buy it now advertised as like new, works perfectly. I had asked if it was a phase5 or DCE before I bid and was told it was a Phase5 board. When the item came it was old lookig at beat up. The 060 looked like it had been pried off with a screw driver and put back on a few times. It didnt work at all. When I emailed the guy back he told me it must have been dammaged in shipping. I was so pissed. No way it was dammaged. Iy was packed rather well.

@StevenJGore:

One more rule- I dont bid on "spam" descriptions like

"Amiga Computer NOT ALTAIR IBM ACORN CRAY ATARI"

Its clearly against the rules, but ebay still does nothing about it. But they sure did cancel an auction for an unopened 5 user Netware 3.12 (!?!) box I was
bidding on. 11 year old unopened software. I know, I know- the end of the world. Stop them. Release the hounds.

Also-I bought a GE VHF radio on December 17th. Still not shipped. It was a dutch auction, so I wrote the rest of the bidders. None of them got anything either. Two are driving down to South Carolina today to pay the seller a visit. We;ll see what happens with this.

Jeff :-D

I would simply state the facts, stay away from emotive statements, and if you feel the whole experience was good/bad/middling leave the appropriate feedback.

Remember if they leave bad feedback in retailiation you can attach a comment or contact ebay to mitigate the effects for future buyers.

my own feed-back list shows two negative feedback´s that I can not get rid of. One is from a local dude that refused to pick up an 1,5 meter aquarium that he bought for 1,5 euro and the other one a guy from USA that refused to ship an older Deep Purple video to Belgium. In both cases I didn´t do anything wrong but it does give me two black spots on my list. What I try to say is that please beware when you give negative feedback.In several cases it is justified, but not always. I also tend to give perfect positive feedback when I get something that DOES work, no matter how long I had to wait, and two weeks is really not an exception. Most things I buy are from Germany which means international shipping, and not every seller appears to like this as most prefer only shipping inside Germany. Am I addicted to Ebay ??? In a way ´yes´,but I do use the same tricks that I have read already in this thread, good tricks if I may add, but I only started using them after a bad deal where I paid and never got anything ... that is the risc. On the other hand, I won an auction last month for a laptop part, for a real cheap price, but the seller preferred not to sell outside Germany as he already had written in the info of his auction. So I offered very friendly to give him positive feedback, to let him give me positive feedback too and that he could re-sell it again. It all happened and we both were happy.

@StevenJGore
"I follow my own personal rules when bidding, to prevent myself from being stung...

- I don't bid on expensive and/or rare items with no picture
- I don't bid on items with minimal descriptions
- I don't bid on items where the seller has put something "funny" as their location, such as "Middle of Nowhere" (I've seen plenty like this)
- I don't bid on items whose sellers have hidden their feedback
- I don't bid on items with "!WOW!" in the title!"
----------------------------------------------------------------

 I agree with you 100% on those rules, as I follow them myself. :-) Now about that CD32/SX32 pro you purchased.............wasnt that the saem one you ended up selling on ebay on got a REAL good sale on? That was amazing.............but believe it or not.if I did not currently own my own CD32/SX32 Pro..............I would have paid the same price for it. I love that machine.

@everyone

eBay is a good place as long as you knoww what your doing......................follow some of these rules StevenJGore has shown here and you'll bee safer. Buy more from trusted sellers, and always keep in mind that people sometimes experience trouble.  I once sold a Program for the Amiga to someone on eBay, but I was short on cash and was moving to a different house..............I was having a real hard time...............an this buyer was extremely understanding!  The item I sold was for $1.00, andd yet he sent $20.00 because he felt bad that it only sold for $1.00.......on top of that he gave me like 3 weeks or 4 weeks to ship his item, which was actually pretty easy to ship. Real nice guy and I trust him............I later gave him some freebies for being so understanding and now we are currently friends. I try to help him out whenever I can. :-)

CD32 is actually the best Amiga ever made by Commodore!...

Hi Argo,

I had one seller unilaterally get rid of my negative feedback I gave him. That was most surpising. Though it did explain his spotless over 20,000 feedback.

He paid the $20.00 to have it removed.   :roll:

@Argo

How do you remove a negative feedback "unilaterally"? I see that there's a "mutually removed" thing on there, but can you really remove feedback yourself?

@odin

I wonder how anyone on ebay can go about being a lamer. Don't you have to give a credit card to apply?

This is just another sad case of eBay not caring about the people that use eBay.
Rather they care more about profit.

GREED, eBay is just another company that cares more about money than any thing else, I think in the end eBay will regret the way they are going.

But then again its the same all over, the more money they make the more they want, the actual thought of caring for the people gets lost along the way.
eBay is like a lot of other companies that exist they only think of themselvs, I just cant understand they way they think I mean to say its "we" the people who make eBay the money.
They just sit back and smile probably thinking "Yes thats it, one born every minute, how can we lose"

With an office full of slimy lawyers with a book of 1000 loopholes how can they realy lose.

No big business cares about 'people', they just might want to appear to care about people.  Small businesses often do, because they can't compete on price/PR so have to rely on customer care.  It's a catch 22 kinda thing ...
