So...he's going after the industrial and "prosumer" (your hilarious coinage for the day) market, and he thinks that those are the kind of people who will be motivated to buy by a custom case and a brand name that's had the last shreds of general-public respectability raped out of it before he even got to it? Right, good luck with that.

$1000 for a case?  What is it made out of, gold?

Surely this has to be a practical joke that dwarfs even the IWin gag?

That Quadro card is not a $6000 card.  $3000 on a good day.  For $1000, the case better be phase change cooled.

Just when you think you've seen the worst, the gongshow starts up again, lol.  No one in the market they are targeting cares one iota about the "Amiga" name.

The big boutique names are only still in existence cause many of them got taken over by bigger brands like Dell and HP (Alienware and Voodoo).  HP getting out of the consumer market as we speak, and Dell re-purposed Alienware quite a bit.

What exactly is "Amiga" about these new Amigas?  I thought the idea was along the lines of the C64x, a vintage looking case at a relatively sane price that would come with UAE.

Talk about an accident waiting to happen, lol.

latest bit of barry gold. A breakdown of a baseline Amiga.

Quote
motherboard 200
memory 100
cpu i7 quad 400
graphics 300
hdd 200
ssd 300
bluray 200
power supply 100
miscl 100

that's $2300 right there, now add labor/overhead/branding/advertising/ profit....

That is a bit too much to ask for a case.
I am the only one allowed to charge that much! :)

Just curious, where does this number come from? Because if that's true, we now have an official measure of just how far removed dammy is from reality ;D

Invoice# 0000149547
minus
Invoice# 0000149320
equals: 227

So, 227 invoices have been issues in that time. I guess each one must be an invoice for 500 machines... :P

There are some interesting component prices appearing there too - surely a mass producer of high-end PCs such as Commodore USA could command much better wholesale rates of the tens of thousands of each component they'll be ordering? Right?

Oh, gotcha.

And I'm sure Barry totally has negotiated lower wholesale rates (after all, he's a furniture-retail king!) All that extra money will go to fund the real Commodore/Amiga-related projects he claimed would follow the C64x, obviously!

:)   FYI: Those invoice #'s you are posting are NOT actual invoices #'s. They are nothing more than the form generated by our ecommerce site for "pending orders" that were fictitiously or erroneously placed and NEVER paid for. (most often by customers who just went through the process, and had their card declined, or never entered a valid email address etc.)  We have had less than 400 of these in total in the last year.

Ah, that's a relief, so the plans for world domination are still on track and unit sales numbers are in the six figure range? Excellent! Now to sort out some proper QC testing before you ship the second hundred thousand units...

Our Commodore Amiga branded machines will be of better quality than your junk and a damn site less expensive too!

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. As long as you're here, mind sharing how many C64xes have actually sold?

(And if you want to object by way of asking me about my sexual preferences, I'll be more than happy to share!)
