Microbotics VXL*30, socketed 68000 heat problem
« on: June 29, 2011, 06:54:58 PM »
I have a Microbotics VXL*30 accelerator in my A500, that I just recently upgraded to 8mb, YAY!!

I've always had a problem where the socketed, original 68000 that plugs into the accelerator card gets very hot.  I'm not sure if its too hot to touch, but it's close.

As you may know, I have an option on startup, that if I hold down mouse buttons, or press a key (I forget), to boot off the 68000 instead of the included 68030.

In any event, when in 68000 mode, my machine boots, but occasionally crashes and is essentially unstable/unusable in that mode.

Is it likely the 68000 is damaged?  My experience with a heat problem is usually related to a grounding issue, something grounded that shouldn't be, or no ground attached at all.  Or something along those lines.

What should I try?

Thanks
