Attached a screenshot of the Grim Reaper and the associated dump file.

Steps I performed are:

1. Install a fresh OS 4.1 (this takes a few installs to actually get a bootable install - 4/5 installs result in a system that hangs on the 4.1 Classic boot logo...waiting 5 minutes or so does nothing)

One I got a system again that would boot -

2. Installed Poseidon 4.4

3. Crash when electing to autostart the USB

And that's all I did. Nothing more. I may be doing something wrong or have something misconfigured not sure...only thing odd I could see was it crashed doing something with a Subway (driver??) in a 4000  Only other thing that may be of interest is that my clock isn't set in the 4000..it's 1978 where it lives :p

Any insight appreciated

Thank you sir!

DM

Yes, as AmigaKit says, delete the subway hardware driver in devs:usbhardware.

Also make sure it's not in your Deneb's flashrom - only the PIO and DMA Deneb drivers should be there (DMA if you are using it under 3.x as well, but it won't hurt OS4.1 if it's present).  It appears the Subway driver does, though.

I can add that to my posting...when my site is back up :-/

Ok great.  I've updated the article to mention not to install the Subway driver on an Amiga 4000.

Had a crack at it last night with your suggestions and she's all good.

Had to use the z2 driver as my Deneb is configured that way otherwise she won't boot into 3.9.

Thanks again guys

Good to hear :) Now it's time for you to create some screenshots and pix of your amiga setup :)

Aye I'll get onto that on the weekend.

Meanwhile I've also noticed that if I set the region to New Zealand OS 4.1 won't boot. I had a similar problem with 4.1 on an AmigaOne a while back so it could be the same fault. Installation of preferences would fail on the A1 unless I opted to use the defaults.

If I set NZ as the locale then I get stuck at the loading screen for 4.1...this happens either with a fresh install or with a system that's been happily running with the default locale for many reboots.

I've also got an outstanding issue with Poseidon although I'll have to revisit it on the weekend to get more information. Poseidon is installing without error now but every now and then upon loading the 4.1 desktop Poseidon will display a Grim Reaper...if I see that I also know that I won't be able to get into Trident. I'll post more info on this if interested when I can find the time.

But on a happy note I installed Wipeout 2097 on 4.1 classic and she's running like a peach :) Shadows under the cars are black squares on the Radeon but, other than that, it's running very nicely in windowed mode (hangs at the 'Digital Images' loading screen in full screen mode).
