Are A3000 & A2000 Keyboards Compatible ???
« on: February 19, 2011, 12:29:58 PM »
I use an old A1500 keyboard on my towered A1200, The A1500 & A2000 used the same keyboards, however I have the chance of getting hold of a nice new A3000 Keyboard... :)

Does anyone know if the A3000 keyboard is compatible with the A2000/A1500 keyboards, do they use the same 5 Pin DIN connector or does anyone have a pinout diagram for the A3000 keyboard... :)

Cheers

Franko

Yes, they both use the large DIN connector. I use an A4000 keyboard on both A2000 and A3000 with the same adapter. The A4000 has the smaller connector.

Cheers spaceman88, it been so long since I've last seen an A3000 I wasn't sure, plus it says on this site that they may not be... :)

Think I'll buy it anyway, at worst it should just need the 5 Pin DIN rewired if the connections aren't the same, thanks... :)

A3000 Keyboard

I know the A4000 uses the smaller connector, but can one use one of the AT to PS/2 adapters on the PC to connect an A2000 keyboard to an A4000?  Like this one:

The reason I ask is that the Natami will be compatible with original Amiga keyboards, but will only have the smaller A4000/PS2 port - and I only have A2000 keyboards!

Oh, by the way, I have used an A2000 keyboard on and A3000 and vice-versa.  I like the A2000 keyboard better....it's more "clacky" whereas the A3000 keyboard (while slightly more stylish) is spongier feeling.

A3000 Keyboard

A3000 Keyboard works fine on an A2000/A1500 Franko.  No modification needed.

But that looks like an A4000 keyboard by the colour of it.  Very whitish for an A3000 keyboard...
Could be a lucky score...

It's just arrived... :D

You were right it is an A4000 keyboard (small 5pin with adapter), some of the keys are a bit yellow though, still nothing a wee drop of whisky wont cure... :)

With the appropiate direction 5 pin DIN to PS/2 connector adapter, you can use keyboards for the 2000, 3000 and 4000 interchangeably. My 4000 uses the keyboard I used when I had a 2000.
