A cartoon I enjoyed in the 80's
« on: December 15, 2003, 03:25:37 AM »
Okay I'm trying to find the name of a cartoon I watched in the 80's.

My memory of it isn't very good, but I loved watching it. (This thread was inspired by the poll)

It was very surreal, it looked like it was made in Japan - however it is not (typical) anime.

It was set in the future (I think), and the characors seemed to be these strange blobs(no humanoid figures)

It was very strange.

Now this is where Australians might be able to help:
It was shown early in the morning on ABC, along with Denis the menis, Abott and costello, the crap cartoon verson of The Wizard of Oz, and 'Sun Tots' (I think that's it's name)

Perhaps somebody has kept old TV-Guide, or TV-Extra, or something that shows what TV show's were on in the 80's

Any references?
 :-)

Hmmm... Barbapapa?

That's the only "blob cartoon" on TV that rings a bell here. It was broadcast on Swedish TV as well, but I don't remember much of it, other than that the characters could morph into whatever they wanted.

BTW, that's a really nice and eerily familiar looking avatar you've got there, iamaboringperson... ;) It made me feel compelled to "upgrade" again.

Could it be the Herculoids with Zandor, Tara, Tundro, Gleep, Gloop, Igoo, and Zok!  I think Gloop and Gleep where the blop like things.
Herculoids

 It wasn't quite as colorful as that, and it was a hell of a lot more serious looking (not a comedy).

Hmmm.. I don't remember humanoid type figures.

That does look familiar, however (well, it looks close to it, anyway).

Probably the closest match so far. :)
