It is part of a trilogy, so not Might & Magic as that one has many more sequels.
 
Hint - you start the game with 6 characters, but can hire one more.

No, the game came out before the Commodore demise - so taking into account that it's a nineties game, it means 1990-1994. And it's not a true 3D so it can't be Trapped.

Realms of Arkania: Blade of Destiny? RPG with 8 Disk and 6 characters  - I only know that one, but it's not  a part of a trilogy

Bingo, hardwired. It is the first part of a trilogy, but sadly the sequels are PC only. Sorry, if that misled you.
