For SWAP or SALE: Amiga 500 (1.3) for Commodore 64
« on: January 18, 2011, 01:13:16 PM »
I bought an A500 (red power light) on a spur of the moment a few weeks ago and restored it (new A520 modulator, new tank mouse and the A501 memory expansion touched up and nail varnished to prevent corrosion). "New" meaning second hand.

I really want the space for a Commodore 64 (either edition although in box wanted). I'll throw in some very good/near mint boxed software too (8 titles). The A500 is boxed in a worn Cartoon Classics box,  sadly the cartoon classics software is not included since I haven't got it (I didn't get it with the machine).

Does anyone have a 64 to swap for it?

If there's no interest I want £30 with software for it (ebay will follow after 1 week). Make me an offer if you have something else to swap (e.g. unboxed 64, old ZX Spectrum etc).

I'll post back more details/photos later today.

Local collection is preferred (Bolton, UK) although I can probably send it elsewhere in the UK for a fee.

As mentioned here it all is (note PSU is standard A500 type with a UK plug - it's inside the box so thus not shown).

I can also throw in some "blanks" I've picked up locally (no idea what is on them).

Close, just spent my money on a mint A1200 for $100
A500s sell for $50-$100 with PWR Supply over here.

PS: Where's the MIPs reading for the SPECY 3 in your SIG ?

If I hadn't trashed my A500+ with 'issues' I would have swapped to get that machine going. Moral of the story is....NEVER throw out anything no matter how much the wife/girlfriend/mum moans ;)

There isn't a program to do that but reading around it's about 0.24 MIPS (for Z80A processor at 3.5469Mhz). Stats updated :)

Obviously C64s sell for more over there than they do here.
I think its a great deal, but I'm not British.

Those MIPS figure really bring home how quickly things evolve.

BTW - According to Freescale a 7447A rates 2.3MIPS/Mhz so at 1.8Ghz - 4140MIPS
Evolution is a scary thing.

Funny I''d take the miggy. I'm burned out on 8bit machines.

Well horses for courses, I've got a 4 digit serial original breadbin C64 from 82 with immaculate packaging that's worth more than any A4000 out there (not that I have a use for an Amiga PPC card, have Wipeout 2097 already for my PS1 :) )

But it's a fair trade if someone has too many C64s and wants an A500 again.

I just need a 2mb chipram A500 to do my coding work on (I hate using the A600...horrible keyboard!)
