Forums and Personal Information
« on: September 12, 2010, 10:34:22 PM »
I went to another forum the other day and I saw a post that had something like a sig. in it.
This sig showed me my information, such as name, ip address, etc.

Can anyone tell me what is going on?

Thanks.

The image is created specifically for each IP address accessing the image. Only you see your information.

It's a old trick to scare inexperienced users.

There are literally thousands of services providing such images, for instance http://www.danasoft.com/

That trick pre-dates the internet. It was very "popular" back in the BBS days - and then usually very easy with the ANSI commands. It used to scare the pants off of inexperienced users.
