Can't do anything Amiga-related with it. If you ever wanted to play with OSX 10.4, now's your chance.

These things always looked odd or out of place to me, though I've never seen one in real life, only in pics.

I remember Steve Jobbs on Larry King I think when these came out talking about how macintosh computers were the cadillac of computers, the best most stylish computers in the world, then they show this cow...

Am I the only one who thinks this is just ugly?

Hey maybe very useful decent computer, but this is a strange looking one.

Too bad it worn't run morphOS.

It should be fast enough for UAE. Run that when you get sick of MacOS.

I think not, or at least you'd have to use frameskip for quite a lot of things.

iMac G4 is somewhat unlikely, mainly because of relatively slow performance and intergrated nVidia graphics.

Hi lost_loven, Only a few weeks ago I bought an iMac G4 17" 800Mhz 160 gig HD OSX 10.4.11. I've already got a C64 emulator running at full speed on it and a SNES emulator also running at full speed on it. I only I could find an Amiga emulator for this set up, Id like to give that a go. Surely if it can run the SNES emulator at full speed it should be able to handle a miggy emulator. :)

I did have a thought, i have a spare 160 gig hd also, maybe swap out the 60, bump up the ram, partition it into 3 and have os 9, os 10, and make have a partition for maybe a windoze, toss on it 98 or something .. max mac it :)

Dunno which version of OSX your running but to get the best out of this model you'd be best to upgrade it to OSX 10.4.11 (no point in going higher on this machine). I upgraded mine to 1GB ram for about £35. :)

If your looking for emulators for this iMac try here...

I've got an unused one sitting in my garage.  They are cute but really lack the power to run modern OS X applications.  If there was a Morphos (hint, hint) available, then you could paint the base to look like half a bong ball.  That would be cool....

I think this is a more appropriate vehicular equivalent.

I don't think this would run amiga emulation very well at all. I'm not sure if its relevant, but I tried many 1.0-1.5 ghz intel pc's and all had stuttered sound and video playback slowness. Seems like 2ghz+ always works, but anything less has problems if your running octamed with many channels or whatever...

If you want to emulate a basic amiga 500 maybe... but not anything high end amiga...

I agree it would be cool running morphOS.
