DLH now has Amiga World magazines online
« on: July 13, 2010, 03:15:45 AM »
I think that DLH's site has one of the best collection of Commodore related material available.  He has now posted the first three volumes of Amiga World magazine.

They are nicely scanned -and zipped- and make for great reading (well I think so).

Great site, really.

Cheers!

Sorry, had to post this from Amiga World (March/April 1986):

ZeitGeist - Guy Wright

"...But the numbers aren't every thing. If those 151,510 articles aren't worth reading then you might as well use the laser disc as a frisbee. (By the way. laser discs are nearly indestructible. So you could use it as a frisbee. then pop it in the dishwasher, put it back in the player and still have a working disk.)

By the time you read this there will be a few companies selling write-once laser discs with 3.2 gigabytes of storage..."

I wish scratches were as simple to remove by 'popping them in the dishwasher...' :-)

Doesn't seem like there is much interest...

However, Volume 4 is now available.

Thanks for the link.

Very cool site with lots of great vintage magazines to read.

I particularly like the BBS magazine and of course all the C= and Amiga mags.

The digital copies smell better, though.

I started browsing through some of the material there and the memories really started to flood back in. I've got to say that it all somehow seemed so much more fun back in the day.

It's pretty cool to see the "new emerging technologies", the hair styles and clothing in the advertisements.

Thank you for posting the link. I'm guessing that most people appreciate it. Most were probably like me and stayed up way too late last night looking through the old issues and were too tired to get back here and post a thanks.

Regards,

wow! found it!

and I was wrong! (imagine that), but it's been years, after all. i didn't use DPaint.

issue 127 1991 of Compute, page 121 looking at the pdf.

Now all I have to do is figure out where the heck the floppy is and THEN figure out how I could read it (no longer have a working AMiga at the moment)

still, this means at least I now know what the issue is.

thanks!!

Even a service manual for C-128 Computer from August 1985 as I see missing in the archive. Tons of Amiga Format and tons of Scandinavian Commodore magazines. You will not get any of them since they will remain at the attic here:) Good site then.

That is an amazing resource.  Just skimming Amiga mags and seeing so many different gadgets that aren't in the BBOAH or the AHD...wow.  Like this one little sled that sat under an A500 and let you add A2000 cards, a second floppy drive, etc. (not the bogeda bay, this one actually sat underneath the 500 and the ad mentions the rather dubious claim that it's easier to type on the already uncomfortably oriented A500 keyboard that way).

Hey does anyone have the full torrent of the Compute! Gazette collection?  I'd love to snag it but nobody's seeding :(
