Interesting that a supposed Amiga "enthusiast" couldn't be bothered carrying away a whole system for  a pittance at the car boot sale.

I think it is a combination of factors.

Interesting that a supposed Amiga "enthusiast" couldn't be bothered carrying away a whole system for a pittance at the car boot sale.

So it would appear interest must be sorely lacking.
There can also be family pressures:I just got a lot of C= goodies (someone else beat me to the Amigas) of a fellow who was under wife's ORDERS to get rid of that old stuff-I want my room back!

I think those who want an Amiga HAVE an Amiga (or two,or fifteeen).!

The ham radio classic radios also seem to be much lowered prices, the collectors must now have theirs so the demand is falling.

The current economy causes many to hesitate spending on non-essentials ,especially if a spouse will want to know WHY and HOW MUCH?

Well said
I have a bunch of Amiga's now, where at the beginning of 2010 I had 2 A500's and a 1200.

Now I have 4 A500's, 4 1200's, 3 4000D's and 1 Micronik tower A4000CR.
And that's excluding Blizzards 1230 (2) + 1260, CF adapters, diskdrives, CF cards, kickstarts, power adapters, RAM/IDE cards and all other things I have bought.
So I think I have enough now, appart from the wish list, which has a Cyberstorm PPC on 1.
But I'm just going to wait until someone says, ok, I want hard cash and I match your offer.

If not, at the end of August it will then become a Radeon 5970 instead of Cyberstorm PPC.
Wishlist: A3500, A2500UX

Ha ha ha  If I was in a relationship and she would tell me to get rid of my Amiga, then I'd get rid of her :hammer:

But sir, there was an AMIGA to be saved from the dustbin !
How could you ignore its plight ?

My experience is flea market sellers often toss unsold items upon leaving.
Have even seen  disappointed  sellers physically destroy unsold items so no one  will benefit.

Little from Column A, and a little from Column B.

We are in a recession afterall.

I think it's good anyway, prices are getting way to inflated for not_THAT_rare hardware recently.
Machines:
- A1200, Blizzard 1260 w/ 64MB RAM, 1.2GB HD, PCMCIA WiFi, AGA w/ RGB Adapter, OS3.9
- Pegasos I, G3 600Mhz, 512MB, Radeon 9200se, 80GB HD, AmigaKit WiFi Card, MOS 1.4.5
- Mac Mini, G4 1.5ghz, 512MB (1GB Soon), Radeon 9200 64MB, 80GB HD, OSX 10.5 (Leopard)
- PCs, Laptops... *yawn*... :D

Because when a more or less working 2.5mb A1000 complete sells on ebay for £44 you have to wonder why.

I would expect a working A1000 motherboard alone to be worth this much but obviously it isn't or perhaps ebay is a complete waste if time.

You would need to give far more information about the auction. i.e condition of kit, reputation of seller, time of sale, etc etc. You simply can`t judge a whole interest on the basis of one auction. My last three Amiga 1000s didn`t cost me a penny as I was given them to preserve and look after. These days most of what I get comes free... Like my KIM that was donated. Serious collectors are not in it for the money and serious enthusiasts are really pleased if the kit goes for a very low price. The only folk worried about value are Ebayers.

PS: My collection is worth financially nothing to me. It will never be sold in my lifetime. However as a source of pleasure it is priceless and at least I get to die a happy man. Though poor.

If Amiga is dead, can you explain this auction????

f*ck me, Im in the wrong business, Import/Export !

That could be me at with 6,400% profit every day. Shed loads of 500's knocking about....sure we could fill a container with a 1000 quids worth, Quarter of a million profit easy and theres a woman trying to sell x86 motherboards from 1990's in a cardboard box for a £1 each and she appears to have not sold one in the last month, there they are every week same box same Mobos same "Not selling"....should I give here a tip. !
was Enterprise Vault (Its an Exchange Fail!), now its EMC Avamar, Dedupe for mostly everything including brain cells.

auction prices vary WILDLY,some buyers do not research but buy on impulse or get caught in auction fever.

Absolutely true. I sell on Ebay regularly and there's little rhyme or reason behind the end sales prices. I've sold valuable items at a horrible loss and sold other items for more than I would pay for them.
Like one other poster stated, its a crap shoot.

But I've got to admit the 2500 wouldn't be one to attract me (and I can't understand the interest in 500s). A good 1200 or 4000? I wouldn't mind buying right now.

Beyond emulators, you've also got to consider the effect of the Minimig or the soon to be released Natami (or the PPC alternatives). Wouldn't you rather have a new and maybe more feature filled computer?
