MagicWB still around?
« on: May 27, 2010, 03:17:42 PM »
I notice that their website hasn't been updated since 1998.  The reason I ask is the 2000 I just got has their MagicWB installed and it is hollering at me to register.

Thanks!  I am thinking I would like to uninstall, but evidently that involves rewriting everything with Workbench 3.x and starting over.  Something I can't do ATM as I only have it installed on the HD and not on floppy. :madashell:

Well you can try it. I did a re-install of the 2.0r version and it has / does everything but, still I get a nagware requester upon boot up.

I think you have to completely remove all signs of MWB and then do the install. If it finds and past install, it may not work as 'registered'

I still experimenting...

Make sure you delete MagicWB fron ENVARC and delete the MagicWB Daemon from user-startup. Then re-install. Make sure you have on hand any '060 libs if you try to reinstall workbench on your computer!

I am not finding an ENVARC folder or know where the Amiga stores its daemons.  I deleted the MagicWB folder and Icon and am now tracking anything down that is MagicWB related in DH0 and DH1

EDIT:  Found a MagicWB-Demon in C.  Its buh bye.  Is that the one you were referring to?

Thanks!  That actually did the trick-I deleted all sorts of anything that said MagicWB through DiskMaster and then reinstalled that version.  No more complaints from the software.  The icons look alright.  Now I has to figure out how to install the new version of diskmaster.  Was going to go with Dopus 4.16 but it wants 68020+ and I'm just running the stock 68000/1Mchip/2Mfast :)

Great. I helped somebody! Let it be written in the Amiga.org history books. About an alternative to Dopus4.16, try out "Ordering v1.18", this works great on lower spec systems that will live in the NTSC universe.
