Can't get WB3.0 / 3.1 Install disk to boot in WIN UAE

Hi folks,

I am the proud owner of a new 1.1 Minimig with ARM controller.  It's working great with ADF's but I'm trying to get it working with Workbench 3.1 (or 3.0) as I want to use WHDload with it.

I've created the Hard File for it in WINUAE (just using a 1gb hard file) but upon trying to get the workbench install disk to work so that I can install WB to the Hard file - it won't boot - just keeps coming back to the usual Amiga 1.3 boot screen.  I have proper WB install ADF's that came with my fully registered Amiga Forever set but it won't boot.  I've also tried other install disks to no avail.  

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?  Is it a seeting in Winuae that I've missed?

The Amiga Forever versions might be copy protected, the 3.1 rom is. Time to go googling I think. Or ask someone here for a copy.

3.0 / 3.1 boot disks will not boot on Kickstart 1.3. You need at least Kickstart 3.0 to boot these disks. Or get a WB 1.3 disk to boot on Kick 1.3.

No, it is not. Although there are binary differences between the original 3.1 ROM and the Cloanto ROM, my A4000 works perfectly with the Cloanto ROM. It's for an A4000, though, it will not work on a 68000 machine, it needs a 68020 at least.

The ROMs in Amiga Forever are encrypted, though. You need to run Transrom inside WinUAE to extract a decrypted copy.

Ahhh - that explains it then.  So the highest Workbench level I can use on the Minimig is 1.3 then (given that it emulates the A500)?  I take it on WB1.3 I can do the same and install it to the hard drive?  My main goal is to get WHDLoad working.

WHDLoad does not run on Kick 1.3, it needs 2.0 at least.

Oh!  That's not good!  The Minimig only emulates an Amiga 500 (68000 processor)

There is Kickstart 2.0 and 3.1 for A500/68000. That's not a problem, as long as you can change the Kickstart of the Minimig (don't know if this is possible).

Hi folks - I have a new issue now

I've created the hard file and set up WINUAE to be an Amiga 500, using the 3.1 A500 Kick Rom and yes the WB3.1 install disk boots now (YAY) but unfortunately HDToolbox can't detect the Hard File.  

Any ideas?

Either

select the HDToolbox icon and choose Information from the Icon menu. Look for the tooltypes and find the one reading SCSI_DEVICE_NAME=scsi.device. Change this to SCSI_DEVICE_NAME=uaehf.device. Save and retry.

Or

use an A600 ROM (for 3.1 it does not matter, but for 2.0 the ROMs are different), select A600 chipset and change the controller from UAE to IDE0 on the Harddrives panel.
