Home needed-Towered A1200
« on: March 23, 2010, 09:45:27 PM »
The below needs a new home so low/no offers accepted, unfortunately a complete clear out has been necessary. I can even drop the bits off if in the Hertfordhsire/Nth London area.

Amiga 1200 in Z4 tower.

 Hardware:

  A1200
  Motherboard rev. 1a
  Ide hard drive (Seagate 51270A)
  Blizzard 030/50 Mk IV
  Blizzard SCSI with 32 Meg
  SCSI CD
  SCSI hard drive (Seagate 32151N)
  SCSI Zip 100
  External DF1:

  CV 63/3D graphics card
  Ethernet card

  Proview 17” monitor

    A4000 keyboard

Software:

  OS 3.5 (3.1 ROMs, Kickstart 40.68,version 44.2)
3.9 present but never installed

  Opus Magellan II (5.82)
  Cut ‘n Paste 3.4
  AmiTCP 4.3
  Miami 3.2
  Miami SSL 2.21
  AWeb 3.3
  Wordworth 7
  Organiser 2
  Dpaint 4.5
  Money Matters 4.02
  Turboprint 7
  AK datatypes
  GoldEd 4.7.3
  Magic Menu 2.29
  Magic Copper 2.2
  Tools Daemon 37.81
  Disk Salv 2
    Virus Checker II

Plenty of bits, books, and CU Amiga/Amiga Format mags with disks.
Very much like me; old but very clean and willing to work :)

I would probably take that off you if I wasn't so far away.  Why don't you list it on Amibay?  I'm sure some folks there would snap it up?

Thanks for the advice, it has been so long since I did anything Amiga-wise, most of the sites I used are now long gone and dusty :(

I would gladly take this lot, any chance you could post it to Spain? Alternatively I can arrange for someone to receive it at a london address and then have it posted to me.

Please let me know if you'll consider posting and I'll make an offer for the whole lot/or at least some parts via PM. Thanks!

Yeah Amibay.com is the best place to sell it as it's all genuine Amiga nuts that are there and a really nice bunch of folk to boot.  Only thing is you will need to specify your price to comply with the rules around bidding.  Best of luck as it's a nice sounding system you have there. Oh - and post photo's if you have any :)

Ah I see echo - so you have the game disks for "all the amiga games ever released" that are "given free" and of course you would be supplying these along with the amiga's you have on eBay?  WHDLoad is a method of getting games to run from Hard Drive that normally require floppies - not the rite to distribute them.  To distribute these WHDLoad games without their original game disk partners is...  erm... piracy unless it's just the CAPS you are providing of course?

Anyhoo I didn't mean to hijack Geoff's thread as he has a great system and I hope he gets a great price for it.

I'd love to "take it off your hands", but I'd feel really guilty because... to be honest... I reckon you'd get a small fortune for that little lot on Ebay.  I do recommend you sell it there!

If you were kind enough to give it to a good home (which I tend to interpret as "for free".  Perhaps this interpretation is misguided), then I advise you to find someone who you think is excited enough about it to give you a warm feeling that they're likely to keep it, cherish it, and use it themselves.

Otherwise, if they're just going to sell it on Ebay themselves, then... well you might as well do that in the first place and get the cash!

By the way... if you are intent on giving it to a good Amiga home for free... then perhaps a raffle would be a good way to do it?! You could even give it to an Amiga User Group, who then could raffle the system at an Amiga show in the Summer or something like that.  Just a thought.

...or keep it, and get back in the game! :-D

Thanks for all the great support; as far as EBay and similar, it may sound a bit old but all I want is the kit to get a fair use. It has sat idle for too long and my wife and I need the space. I do like the idea of a "local" User Group doing what they wish with it. I used to go to Kickstart near the back of Heathrow but I am sure they had to fold. The cash is really not an issue, and having to package it for our trusted Royal Mail fills me with dread.
