Picasso only good for RTG Workbench Graphics. Still need Amiga 15khz monitor for games. Get AGA Indivision if you want one monitor solution with VGA switch.

Picasso II 'good' if you tweak the living hell out of the monitor settings, otherwise, you'll be sure to meet disappointment using modern monitors, especially LCD.

@Dougal

The Picasso II is a good card, but if possible go for the picasso IV. It's superior to the picasso II.
It has a scandoubler/flickerfixer and there are also some expansions for it like a soundcard (concierto) and tv-tuner (paloma).

I believe Nostromo has one for sale for 250€.

Get a flicker-fixer card and use the jumper cable to plug it into the PII and I believe you will be happy with the results.  As mentioned, a PIV is better but the price can really get you.  You can get the FF and PII for about one third the price of the PIV.

I've got a PII in my A2000D and it works great. I also have a Microway FF/SD, to scandouble the anative Amiga output, which I then pass through the PII. I fibd it to be very good. I've also used the board in my A3000D and it wors well.

However in my A4000D I have a C6V4-3D card with scandoubler and its much better than the PII. It did however cost a whole shed more than PII, which I picked up for around $55 on eBay. The CV64-3D cost me at least double that and the scandoubler was an arm and a leg.

In my opinion the PII is a good card but is better suited to the A2000D as its a Zorro II board. For the A4000D/T I think you're better off with a Zorro III board like the CV64 or CV 64-3D (Zorro II and III) or PIV (Zorro II and III). There are others as well like the GVP EGS Spectrum you could consider.

Weed.
