CDTV infra-red mouse problem [SOLVED]
« on: November 02, 2009, 12:15:17 PM »
I recently acquired an infra-red CDTV mouse, but I have a problem.

It moves only horizontally (left or right), but not vertically (up or down). Buttons seem to work though.

I changed batteries, nothing. I changed even the trackball but still nothing. I cleaned it, nothing.

Any suggestions?

Have you opened it up to see if the sensors (where them spoked wheels are) are positioned correctly? If so and still nothing then they may need to be replaced but I wouldn't know where to find such spares, but maybe if an A500 mouse is compatible it could be cannibalised?

They seem to be in the right place, but I don't understand. How they can be moved? Are they fixed in place right?

Sometimes in some mice the sensors are solderd on un-flush from the board so it has a little play. I assume yours are totally fixed in that position?

I opened it. I cleaned it (although was nothing dust inside), and now it works! I didn't touch anything... Anyway... Happy end... Thanks...

Super! Enjoy your mouse, I have been looking for one of them myself for a while now.

It's really nice, although it doesn't seem to have the same distance as the remote controller. You have to be more near to the CDTV in order for the mouse to work. :-(
