All of the DRAMs in common Amiga sizes they list seem to be DIP or SOJ.

@ Retro_71

Can you post how much that ZIP to SIMM adapter costs? Also the postage/shipping charge.

I'm sure other people would be interested :) I know I am!

DIP chips or PS/2 SIMMs are no slower than standard (fast page) ZIPs - speed depends solely on the RAM controller RAMSEY, if the RAMs are too slow the machine will simply crash.

However, static column ZIPs can run slightly faster with the original '030 CPU (2-15%) as RAMSEY supports burst transfers in this configuration. Static column chips simply don't exist in DIP form or on PS/2 sticks.

With very fast DIP or PS/2 RAMs (not much more than 50ns) you can try to gain some extra speed: set J851 to 1-2 (16 MHz position). This removes the extra wait state that's usually required for 25 MHz operation with 80 ns RAMs.

You can just try if your 60ns RAMs are fast enough, nothing will break. If it crashes you'll have to switch back to the normal 25 MHZ setting. But do test your 3k thoroughly before running any real work on the machine. :hammer:

Has anyone heard of DJBase recently? I've ordered (and payed) the SIMM-ZIP adapter
from his site AmigaWorld but he never replied on all of my emails after the payment was done. :(
The money transaction was on July 24 with SEPA IBAN/BIC, so I know that he did get the money within a few days because I payed like this before lots of times.

@Retro 71
Did you received your SIMM-ZIP adapter, or are you also still waiting? :confused:
