Grey Screen Using Scart on Plasma TV
« on: July 22, 2009, 01:01:57 PM »
I made an RGB + audio to scart some time ago which worked great when connecting either my A1200 or A600 to a CRT tv.

Yesterday I used the cable to connect to my Samsung 42" Plasma, but was unable to get a picture.  The tv picked up the signal ok enough to be able to switch the input, but was unable to show anything other than a light grey 'picture'.

I then used the AV ports instead which produced a picture straight away - thus proving that the Amiga's not at fault.

Does anyone know whether this particular tv requires something extra or special in the scart plug/wiring to provide output?

Cheers.

With SCART, the "composite" signal is normally used for syncing the picture, maybe you used "composite sync" signal for syncing?

Whey hey!  Problem fixed - well actually it's not fixed as there was never a problem in the first place.  I'd plugged the Amiga's scart into a non-RGB socket - hence the grey screen. Doh!

"Lets see what the signal from my floppy port looks like on an LCD TV!"

(just jealous there's no SCART stuff in the US.)

Well, if it makes you feel better... There've been plenty of times I was cursing my PAL-displays for not supporting component and/or progressive input.

But yeah, RGB scart is a great thing /smug
