Pcmcia devices for the A600/1200
« on: June 30, 2009, 05:41:21 PM »
Ok, so we all know that certain Modem/network cards and Compact flash readers work in the PCMCIA slots, But what other devices has been successfully used? I am looking for maybe a CD-rom (like the squirl) but can most any PCMICA CD-rom be used? and how about the PCMCIA to IDE Chain (pictures below) for a Cd-rom?
What is the biggest Ram card I can use on it (4 Megs? 128 Megs?)
Thanks all
I have Amiga stuff for sale at http://amigalounge.com. You can follow my builds there also.

There was an ATAPI interface that I used to use before swapping it for an ethernet card. It worked fine.

You could probably use pretty much any 16-bit card if there was a driver for it. However, most devices don't have software for them... I don't know about any of the PCMCIA CD-ROMs, but have a look for device drivers on Aminet etc.

The largest memory card you can use natively is 8MB, or 4MB if you've a low-end accelerator or memory add-on with 8MB on it. Higher capacities aren't supported natively, but cfd.device might let you use them - it works well with compact flash adaptors.
