Amiga A4000T worth 1k?
« on: June 10, 2009, 06:52:33 AM »
I just had to ask the question after seeing an Amiga A4000T go for over $1000.00 on fleabay (I think that's what we call it here). Is that a resonable price for it? I'm new but have read that for a collector it would be rare cause of the number that were actually made. Any thoughts from the collectors(Here) would be greatly appriciated cause I am looking to purchase a ton of Amiga in the near furture and this would be something I would want.

Thanks everyone,

LoBai

Let's put it this way: Would I pay that amount? No. If it was a Commodore one (only 200 made) I probably would though.

These can still be bought new from Softhut. (or at least, a year ago)

I do collect Amiga's, and all things around them but part of the fun of collecting is getting bargains. Like 3 A4000CR's and a 4000T for € 350,-.

Sure, I've paid that for some Amigas in my collection... last A4000Towerised one I paid for that amount however had a 233mhz PPC 604e board as well... I run OS4 classic on it... though haven't booted it for awhile... SAM took over...

You pay what you want for whatever... I have around 90 Amiga Systems and never sold anything Amiga... but over the next year or so I am going to start compiling good systems and selling them off... I just haven't got any room any more... LOL

I have two SAMs and I want more... the classic branch will fund the future branch... beautiful ;-)

Thanks for the feedback. I will keep an eye on the best value as I might go broke paying this kind of cash lol.
I also want to dable in the PPC, can you install a PPC board in a A4000T? I think that would be very cool.

Just checked out the prices of SoftHut and they are very much in line with the $1,000.00 ebay auction, so I guess paying this isn't to unreal. Systems with nothing starting at $1299.00 USD.

Thanks,

LoBai

Absolutely.  $1000 is a bargain for A4000T.  They are not easy finds either.
Anyone dreaming of paying less can get either lucky finding one, or can continue to dream hehe.

Depending on the condition of the unit, that was a great deal!

For an Original Commodore A400T... yeah, probably worth it... but for that amiga Tech one... I really don't think so, the A1200 offers better value for money with better and cheaper upgrade options.

I really like the A1200 and will get one soon and I do agree it has a ton of stuff to put in it. I also like having tons of exspansion slots like the tower has. I guess I will just have to get both:)

My question is more, why the 4000T over the regular 4000 (030 / 040 / 060)?

It's the only Amiga with both SCSI and IDE on the motherboard!

Though I really think it's just the cool door with the tinted window.  That's why I bought mine, anyway.

But seriously, way more room in the 4000T case, probably a whole lot less of them made than 4000s, and no NiMH or NiCad battery to leak on the motherboard (all button cells from the factory, I believe.)
