Getting to VGA modes
« on: October 11, 2003, 11:24:50 PM »
I'm trying to use the vaunted VGA modes.  The modes I get on this Gateway monitor with my A1200 are all pretty strange.  I've tried these drivers: VGAonly, Euro72, DblNTSC, DblPAL, and Multiscan as recommended in the manual.

The best is taller than it is wide, tho set at 640x400.  That fills about 1/2-2/3 of the screen.  I tried Overscan settings in prefs, but no good.

What do I do to get a full screen in VGA?  Choke a chicken in a cemetary at midnight under a blue moon?

I already have a scando which allows me a no flicker NTSC/PAL, but I thought a VGA monitor could do 800x600 without the sc/ff.

Someone has the answer, I am certain.  O Great Master, I await knowledge.  Anyone got any?
God made apes, but he used a human to do it.
Man fit the plan, apes are here to prove it.
We can walk like a man, talk like a man, do what humans do.
Yes god made apes but a human supplied the glue.

Yeh a vga monitor can do 800x600 but the amiga cant.  The max I ever got under aga was something like 720x650 ish, and that was hacking about with the drivers.

Try MonEd and MonitorKiller off of aminet :) they let you adjust the modes.
Restraining orders are just another way of saying I love you!
