Ehm, if you look closely to 'his'/'her' avatar, you might notice for tis a bit different, more bright, I think. So no direct stealing it is.

It's getting to the point here in Dallas where you need to know Spanish to get a job.

I must admitt that I was getting a bit worried yesterday(Friday), but I still knew it was an april fools. I didn´t realise how much this site meant to me emotinally.
That was an excellent way of doing it, we basically fooled ourselfs with speculation and guesses.

> April fools rocks

The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) threw a great April fool once. It was long before my time, when everything still was sent in black and white, two or three years before the first colour broadcast (probably in the late sixties). It was late in the evening and the channel hostess was to announce a program, when she told everyone this: "Turn of all lights in your home, and this broadcast will appear in colour.". And, around in the thousand homes, people actually believed her and switched off all their lights. A true classic Norwegian April fool is when the Wine Monopoly (state owned/controlled liquor stores) tells the news papers that they have a leakage, and that people must come and help them get rid of all the alcohol. People falls for it and shows up in crowds with buckets and milk pails...

The trouble is not enough people look at the adverts. That's why no specific announcement that this was an April Fool was made.

One of the cycled adverts is "And the Winner of the April Fool's Joke Competition is..." (I'm paraphrasing from memory I'm afraid). If you click on that it brings you to this thread. AFAIK the advert has been there since the 2nd.

A Natural expiration date, noting the original creation date of April 27, 1995 which simply played into our hands.

In all, I can't take credit for everything.  I owe most of the original inspiration to James Russell, our Editor-at-large.  Glad everyone liked it.

Our original plan was to drag it out until May 1st at which point we would have announced it (if no one had seen the hidden text by then) but the other moderators on the site (who were intentionally not let in on the joke) started kavetching about how "foolish it makes them look" and how it was "damaging the site's credibility", etcetera ad nauseum (literally).  Sheesh, no sense of humor I tell ya... :)

Just wait to see what we have in store for next year...

Wayne
