Carl Sassenrath Interview
« on: August 07, 2003, 11:23:54 AM »
A while back Carl Sassenrath agreed to answer some questions from the Amiga.org community about his current project, REBOL and the current Amiga situation.

Your patience has been rewarded, because you can find the interview right here ...

Nice read. Thanks a lot for this interview.

It's nice to see that he succeeded in doing Rebol. I remember when he started Lava. A lot of people (including me) were sceptical about its easiness...

Very nice to read, lots of niffy bits of information. He's pretty cool IMHO ;)

My Question was the coolest :-P

I like his ideas though... OS design should be radical... That's why I do what I do :)

Then why clone a ten year old OS? ;-)  (Oh come on, you knew that one was coming, didn't you? :-P )

I did... so I'll use the standard "Wait and see" line that Hyperion and Genesi are trailing around :-P

Future plans are no secret... the Future is FabiOS (sorry an in joke) ;-)

But if you have such grand plans, why begin out as source-compatible with AmigaOS?

Do like IBM. They aren't IBM compatible ;-)

Edit:
I guess I'm aiming at:
Dare to be different.

Or like Weird Al:
Dare to be stupid.

Maybe not as effective, but can be fun as well :-)

@olegil:

"But if you have such grand plans, why begin out as source-compatible with AmigaOS?"

Just once I'd like to see a little radical thinking devoted to the other side of the coin: writing worthwhile applications that use the operating system.

Great interview Kees!

For the record, I'm still flying my REBOL flag atop my monitor. ;-) REBOL rulez.

@Targhan:

I take it your avatar isn't Rebol related, then? ;-)
