Commercial CD32 Emu for WIndows
« on: July 24, 2002, 07:50:16 PM »
Akiko is a CD32/CDTV (Amiga) emulator for Windows 9x/ME/2000. It was updated awhile back on July 10 under our noses, so the page has been updated accordingly :P Akiko, it should be mentioned, is shareware, and costs 15 USD/Euro to register, but the demos have been updated to the newest version, 1.6. There are two versions: The new full version has all the CD cover pictures and a few other files included and is around 8MB. The normal version is much smaller, but doesn't contain the CD pictures.

http://www.airsoftsoftwair.com/

Here's what's new:

Contains a cover archive with more than 160 covers for CD32 and CDTV games (full only)
Can run more games and the compatibility increased

I couldn't find any more specific updates other than this on the site or in the program itself.
The homepage for Akiko is now Airsoft Software
Get both versions from the Amiga Emulators page

hmm I was under the impression this project was illegal being commercial and containing UAE..
perhaps im mistaken.

As for the CD32 being a waste of money I'd personally love one. I think it would look great
sitting ontop of my 32" widescreen TV downstairs :)

@Ryu
Includeing GPL-SW in commercial products isn't neccesary illegal
(StormC4/Amiga-Forever/every Linux-distro).

As long as they provide the sources for the included UAE and have a
Kick-licence, their fine.
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

There's nothing stopping the use of GPL code in commercial programs or packages, as long as the GPL conditions are respected.

Amiga Forever is a positive example of how to respect the GPL while AmigaXL is how not to do it.

if you think that when it came out it was worth 500-today's-euros/dollars, then you might understand why it was a waste of money. I personally bought it to help commodore that was in big financial problems, but obviously it didn't help that much...

Plus the quality of a CD32 case is so bad that you might not want to hear about that! ;-)
