A3000 you say ?

should also be portable onto a beefed up A1200 then.
you'd only need to do new Gfx drivers for AGA - and only then to get the extra modes IIRC.
(what -are- the fundamental differences between the two ? aside from the bleedin' obvious of course...)

but yes, in ref to earlier comments here (howdy Kronos n Coder !) one of the PPC machines would be more worthwhile (SharkPPC ? :-p )

But I wonder if we will have any speed left once it is running on an A3000.

You want to have some speed left (not the computer) ?

I always thought only smoking pot was legal in Holland, but
atleast now we know the reason for the bucket:
There really is a 250000Euro warrant on you, and you are also
know as "14.1 kg (mhz) per day Paddy"  :-D
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

I like OS's wich runs old hardware. And still they are fast and fully useable. Like AmigaOS

Yeah but we already have AmigaOS on the A3000/030. I cant see OpenBeos bringing anything better than what we already have.
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

a>'I've got a decade old Amiga 1200'
b>'what OS is on that ?'
a>'Linux,MacOS,BeOS, QDOS, and last but not least, AMIGAOS !' :-)

besides its always fun to mess about with other OSes (apart from Windoze, I am forced to use that at work  :-x

You couldnt describe it as movement, although it certainly is a form of it.

The projects has been flying along at incredible speeds, you can already replace parts of BeOS and have it running the same functionality at sometimes a better speed.

BFS (BeOS File System) has been finished and you can down load this and replace it with the current BFS implimentation from Be Inc.

There are a few others things too i believe have been finished. I would love to have this project on an AmigaOne. I believe the BeOS community could almost call the AmigaOne their home. Or any other POP board for that matter.

And they should, its cheap hardware, easy to get, and with a resonable usergroup that is very close to the BeOS users hearts already useing the boards.

A great match if you ask me,.
