A Top-Secret, One-of-a-Kind Mac

Offtopic but interesting nevertheless.

"In a drafty shed in rural northern California is perhaps the rarest Macintosh ever made: an electronically shielded Mac used by a spy or military agency. The machine appears to be unique, and is so secret, no one knows anything about it."

Check it out at Wired News.

The truth is out there, trust no one.

But a nice story indeed.

>Only one in the world - Rare.

I doubt it. APPLE have a super secret pit where they buried the remaining APPLE III / Lisa (failed product). I guess US Army have similar pit / warehouse full of old Tempest computers (at Area 51??). :)

I don't know why anybody would find this the least bit surprising. There are various security companies which openly do TEMPEST shielding and/or certification for all kinds of machinery.

Not only that, there is even a PPC CPU which was developed to me EMP shielded (no I don't have a link handy).

This is hardly a Clancy (sp?) novel

Well the fact it seems to be a 1 off by Apple themselves makes it a novelty.

Also this isn't the most interesting aspect of the article IMO. On page 2 there was an interesting comparison to Wonzak(Apple II/IIgs) and Jobs(Mac).

Okay, here's what we do...

We get Woz, Raskin, Mical, and Sassenrath together...

Then we clone Mitchy- no nature/nurture debates here, it was all instinct...

...and we get them to design the CAM- Computer for Amiga Maniacs... (In a Betamovie form-factor, naturally, so it can be used by videographers in the field)...

Whaddaya think?
