A1200 freezing
« on: April 22, 2009, 12:20:30 AM »
I have a Dkb1202 with 4/Mb Ram . I have Kickstart 3.1 and im running OS3.5
when I open any software at all the A1200 freezes or just crashes
I think this could be a hardware issue
I put a unformated hard drive in the A1200 and reloaded all soft ware it crashed again
I have swapped HD into another A1200 and it works fine.
whoknows

As previously stated try without the memory ram. I had one A1200 accelerator for many years that was working giving sparsed randomly errors. Only after continuously testing it I discovered that was the Ram module.

Another testimonial for the bad ram club. It's quite common for ram chips to fail. Amiga's to arcade games especially. There are ram tests on Aminet, but they can take "forever" and not be 100% accurate. Best bet is to swap out the ram. That would suck if your chip ram is bad though!!

I have a 72pin 4mb SIMM if you get in a bind...
