Best bet is to unzip the window along the top (again, if so equipped) and let it drop before folding the top back. Kind of a pain and of course it puts stress on the zipper zipping it back up, but it lets the window lie flat.

"See, instead of a cigarette lighter, it's got a lipstick holder."

"Oh crap, it's a girl's car!"

I didn't say they weren't fun to drive. I know a few owners, mostly of Mark I models.

You'll have fun replacing the clutch with a monotonous degree of regularity if their collective experience is anything to go by.

Mine is a Mark I, and it is a dream to drive :-)

I'm not a woman driver*... :-D

*No offense to women drivers, but I've not met one who doesn't over-rev the engine when pulling away from a full stop... no wonder clutches wear out!

Having once owned a shiny new 1990 Miati, in blue, I thought I should chime in.  Add a good sound system, upgrade the speakers if they already haven't.  The stock is good but a CD player is mandatory!

Someone mentioned unzipping the back window before putting the top down.  Sorry, but this is the manufacturers recommendation.  I had some damage to my backwindow due to a problem when the alarm installer decided to put the top down for more room to work...

Some damage to the back window can be taken out by warming with a hair dryer on low.

Best advice, find a nice twisty road (having lived in England I know you have them handy) and go for it!

Yup, the Stock speakers absolutely suck... no bass at all... the previous owner put in a very nice SONY CD/MP3/iPod player though :-)

Yup... the MX5 was built for British country roads... I have never driven a car that handles as well as the MX5... It actually feels like the car is glued to the road, no matter how fast I go and how tight the twists and turns are... the thing never under or over steers... I'm in love ;-)
