« on: March 25, 2009, 10:04:41 PM »
We are pleased to offer a new repair service of SIMM socket repair.  This service is useful if you have a broken SIMM socket on an A4000 motherboard or accelerator and require it to be desoldered and a replaced with a socket with metal clips.

Woohoo! I have two for you, maybe even 3 (a 4000T mobo I really have not done anything with yet). One of my 4000D mobos also need new 8520s I think, preferably replaced with socketed ones. Is that also possible to get done?

Anyways, great news - I have postponed this soldering job for months! :-D

I suggest too a replacement service for Blizzard 1230 and 1260 simm socket with angled-type (A4000 style) instead of motherboard aligned (default for Blizzards) so the huge 128 Mb simms will fit more nicely without the need of keeping the module in place with rubber bands or other strange tricks :-)

Regards, CyberDez

Keep in mind the "angled type" won't allow you to close the trapdoor, possibly not even having your A1200 siting on itself due to the simm protruding from the accelerator...
Some people would actually prefer the oposite service ;)

We can also add extra SIMM socket to Apollo cards that permit a second socket to be added.

Is that price per socket or per motherboard?   I have a spare 4000D board that was shipped incorrectly with SIMMS in it, and broke all 5 sockets.  :-P

Price is $18.86 per socket including the new SIMM socket with metal clips.
