wrong pcmcia adapter tranfer from amigakit.co.uk?
yo guys
I purchased an easy pcmcia kit from amikakit.co.uk last month for my new miggy1200. I have been working like a madman to get money in after the holidays and have only just got time to use it. however it does not seem to fit. the lug on the left had side of the miggy's port is too big for the slot in the adapter- or seems to be - and there is no way i am going to force it. the card adpter is unbranded because because the label on the packaging has been part removed before dispatch, but has a serial of MITMEM06. i have had a torch in the miggy pcm slot and it realy seems to me like the card adpter is inncorect. the front of the adapter is labeled as a Type I/II, MD.
am i going mad? or can somebody confirm for me that this is a poor fit?
i will mail them again, just hope its not me.
pz

Hi
ok i have got it in there, it was me! it took some wiggling and its a very tight fit but all the pins are ok and intacked and i can get it in and out. though its nerve wracking . my prob now is i just dont know what to do. the instructions for non HDD install dont add up and the pictures from the instructions are different - the pics are from version2007. is there a walkthrough anywhere about how to go about this for us non HDD owners? every choice i make seems to try to write back to the protected install disk, and i cant see the flash card on the desktop.
sorry to be a noob,
but this aint vista
PZ
ps i cant seem to detect the flash card at all. the instructions say to make sure you have the same OS as kickrom. I have a brand new miggy1200 that came with workbench3.1. the instructions say i can check the kickrom i have from the boot and projects menu of the install disk.
jeeze this is rocket science because those options cannot be found anywhere :(
thanx for your time bro

Hi Pubzombie,
I've just got one of these kits myself.  I've got an hdd so I've found it straight forward.  I'm currently copying loads of stuff with it but once I'm finished I will try it without an hdd so that I might be able to give you some hints.  The copying shouldn't take too much longer I hope...

Cheers,
Rudi

@pubzombie
Here is the walk-through for the ADAPCMCFL software disk, when you are using the product without a hard disk drive:

http://www.amigakit.co.uk/support/adapcmcfl-boot.php

The copyright messages on the pictures may be different but the printed documentation is still up to date.

We will send you a replacement card on Monday that isnt such a tight fit.

I couldn't agree more!  And thanks pubzombie, I had the same problem this week and I thought I was going   since my other PCMCIA card fit the A1200 fine.

My replacement is on the way as well!

Thanks for the great support Matthew!

Looks like you're all sorted!  I had to go out so didn't get the chance to try it without an hdd but Amigakit came up trumps...as usual

All the software you need is on AmiNet, but it's nice that Amikit puts a disk together for you so you don't have to track it all down yourself. I bought a Dazzle 4 in 1 card adapter for my A1200 some time back, and tracking down all that stuff on AmiNet and figuring out how it all works took more time than the shipping on the Dazzle.

I had exactly the same problem last week, having got the kit for Christmas!

I spent the best part of the day messing about and couldn't seem to get it to fit so gave up in frustration.

The next day I went back to it and it clicked in first time.

Now I live in fear of it coming disconnected  ;-)

My replacement unit arrived yesterday and plugged right in and my compact flash card was immediately recognized.

Thanks Mathew!!  AmigaKit rules!
