Questions about installing Picasso IV
« on: October 13, 2008, 10:01:10 PM »
Hello all and thanks in advance for the help!

Finally, after waiting for a long time, I am getting a Picasso IV for my A4000.

Is setting this up as simple as plugging it in the video slot, attaching the monitor and firing the Miggy up?  I am not sure if I will be getting any documentation with it and the only thing I can find online is is German.

After spending mucho dinero I really don't to screw this up right out of the gate.

Any help walking me through this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tim

Make sure that before installing the picasso iv you have removed all monitor files from devs:monitors except for ntsc and/or pal. Then install the picasso iv card and attach a monitor to the picasso iv card. Power on the system. If the flickerfixer of the piv is doing it's job, all ntsc output is shown through the piv. Then install picasso96. After that you can use 8/16/24 bit modes.

I'll be getting a (long awaited) Picasso IV soon also with manual, hope it's in English, to replace the Picasso II in my A3000D. I wouldn't think I'd have to uninstall and then reinstall the Picasso96 drivers.

If the manual I recieve is indeed in english, I might somehow be persuaded to scan manual to .pdf  :-D

...and no, the Picasso II will NOT be up for sale. Gonna stuff it into an A2000.

No, but your monitor allowing you can tweak your modes to accept much higher refresh rates - and some new modes to the top because of bigger RTG memory.

All manuals (English and German) and all the latest files for all the Picasso products are available from Ex-VillageTronic employee Tobias Seiler's website.

Yes, I have 3 add-on cards.  I think they were the Pablo (video encoder), Paloma (TV Card), and Concierto sound card).  I really would have liked the MPEG card which was never released.
