China to ban foreign made software

Hello
A new rule from People's Republic of China:
On the next upgrade cycle, all computers should
use software made in China, not software from
foreign countries. Will this ban also apply
to AmigaOS, MorphOS and AROS?
Will this new rule also apply to the Plexuscom
STB based on Pegasos?
If a Chinese software company translate and
create a chinese version of AmigaOS/AROS/Morphos,
is it possible to sell this software in China?

Does this mean also that the rampant copyright violations and sales of "copied" software from other place will cease too?

Not intended as flame-bait, but:

In both Chinas and some other Asian countries anyone's intellectual property used to be stolen, copied, & redistributed, routinely, and without a second thought. Records & books in the 70's. Software more recently.

In the last ten years a lot of international pressure has changed this somewhat. Now that they have to pay for software they want to protect their own.

(Side note: Russia also uses their own security version of Linux for the military.  Other countries would be well advised to create their own as well.)

Everybody sit back and watch the international fireworks show that is sure to follow.

Remember that this only applies to the Goverment - I don't see AOS or MOS having a major position there soon, even without the ban.

I don't see that happen any time soon. But then again it is China. How about Vietnam, were you had that guy that was sent to prison for a few years for having published a sort of freedom of speech thing on the inet.

Glad I am in Thailand. Were you can buy the movie on DVD even before it's in the cinema. And the quality is superb. And the price is cheap. And that goes for "software" too. No wonder since the government puts heavy import taxes on imported software. That's one way to keep the piracy alive.
