CD file system that supports 2 CD drives for OS3.1 ?
« on: September 14, 2008, 02:44:02 PM »
Hey everyone, Well I'm finally spending some 'quality time' with my 4000T Toaster/Flyer system. Only problem, only one of the CD-drives shows up. OK, it's OS 3.1, using AsimCDFS 3.10 for CD file system. The drive is getting power, but just won't show up. Ughh, I don't want to take my 4000T apart if I can help it. (I managed to mess it up trying to upgrade the CS RAM. Any ideas?

Thanks much, Marc

Every CDFS support more than one drive at the same time.

You just need a mountlist for the second one.

But for this you'll have to know the interface where the drive is connected to, and what's the drive ID (if it's SCSI) or if it's master or slave (if it's IDE).

Just make a copy of the other drive's mountlist, edit it and try different unit numbers.

The mountlist should be at the drawer Devs:DosDrivers/ if the drive is mounted at boot.

I think Asim actually keeps its mountlists in SYS:Storage/DOSDrivers and then mounts them with a command in user-startup. It's because an AsimCDFS: assign is needed but isn't available at the time the contents of Devs:DOSDrivers are mounted in the startup-sequence.

Anyway, the SCSIInquire tool on the AsimCDFS install disk can tell you the device and unit settings for your CD drive(s).

Thanks for the replies: Actually, just after I posted, I checked things out with SCSIInquire, and every other SCSI tool I had... The CD-ROM doesn't show up anywhere.... I hate to do it, but I may have to open the 4000T up and see what's up with the troublesome CD-drive...
