Is this the Pegasos 2 HW specifications?
« on: August 20, 2003, 06:26:42 PM »
It was previously said that the Amiga MCC computer should be built using the Pegasos motherboards. The MCC will be available (;-)) in September (hint hint: Pegasos 2) in the following configuration:

1 AGP Port (2x/4x/8x) :-o :-)
USB 2.0 Ports :-o :-) on Front and Back of Unit
3 PCI Sockets
Firewire (1EEE-1394a) Ports on front and back of unit
Ethernet (10/100baseT) port for networking    :boohoo:  :pissed:
IrDA eye on front of unit for Infrared devices
S/PDIF Sound Jack for High Fidelity sound systems
Standard Microphone, Sound In, and Sound Out jacks
MIDI/Game Port
Serial and Parallel ports

Hmm ...
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :)

September 2004?  or September 2020?

Uhhhh...where did you read it's coming out in September?

Do you have an URL?
#AmIRC
mesra.dal.net or hotspeed.dal.net

For URL, click on the "Amiga MCC" link in the top of the first post. There it says:

Suggested Pricing:
PowerPC System: Starting at $999.95 (USA Dollars)
Availability starting in September 2003

Of course we should consider the source, but the specifications sound pretty much what I expected (except for the ethernet) ...

Didn't BBRV say there was no contact between Genesi and Merlancia ?

They said in another thread that they are not partners with Merlancia, that anyone can buy their motherboards as OEM and build a system based on that, but that is not the same thing as being partners. Melancia confirmed in the same thread that they are not partners, but they obviously showed interest to buy Pegasos technology for use in the Amiga MCC computer.

These specifications are pretty much the same as the Pegasos 1, except for the much improved AGP, and USB 2.0 (and presumably DDR memory, since that is what the Marvell Discovery II uses). If this should indeed turn out to be true, then it's pretty much what I expected from the Peg2 upgrade. The much improved AGP and USB is actually a lot more than I personally expected, but the ethernet is very much less than I expected. So I both hope that this is accurate and that this is what the Peg2 will be like, but at the same time I hope not.

1x gigabit ethernet would be quite unique for *any* motherboard today, 2x gigabit ethernet would be *very* unique, and that alone would be a strong selling point, way outside this community.

Well, as I said, this is nothing but total speculation from my side here, and it's all based on some info from Merlancia(!), so ...

I guess you're right.. Somehow I seem to remember BBRV said they didn't want to be associated with Merlancia or something like that.. But my mind is with somebody else, can't think right now..

Well, as I said, this is nothing but total speculation from my side here, and it's all based on some info from Merlancia(!), so ...

Speculate away then  :-D

I'd be suprised if these MCC projects ever see the daylight, but it would be a nice one.. And if these are based around the Peg 2, well, let's hope a certain thread on ANN is right...

But if they arn´t partners why would they have info before anyone else?
no this isn´t the PegII specs end of story, because both on the Marvellboard and in BBRVs posts there is always 2 gigabit ethernet ports, why would they replace those?
Don´t trust Merlancia ever, if they say the sun is still burning check just in case.
Apple did it right the first time, bring back the Newton!

AFAIK, BBRV have never said that the Peg2 will have 2 gigabit ethernet ports, that is IMO a conclusion people draws from their choice of Disco2 model (if I remember correctly, it was the Discovery II MV64361).

very wild speculation there :-)

I wouldn't touch an announcement from Merlancia with a 40 foot pole.

Of course, I don't know many polish people, and certainly none over 7 feet ;-)

Well, I hope that September release date is still on.
I want one. Anyone have any ideas yet how much it's going to cost?

New Amiga One boards, aren't they being manufactured by a third party?  Micro ATX and Mini ITX?  If demand is up, someone will make the boards.  PPC is becoming more popular.

But then, considering Merlancia's rep.....   :-o   Don't hold your breath - wish wear !  Have a dream, will travel, just not into reality !  :roflmao:
