3 ways.

1> Get a squirrelSCSI and an external CD drive

2> If you have a Blizzard accelerator in your 1200, you can install the SCSI kit that comes with it which will let you hook up external devices.

3> cut a hole in the case and install a laptop CDdrive. You'll need to buy an IDEsplitter which are available at Amigakit.com Others on this site have done this, so just take a look in the  photo section.

Im a simple soul in this field, option one sounds the most user friendly way togo... is it a pricey option, i know SCSI gear is..

Can i use my pc as a sort of slave and transer everything through the old pcmcia card?

I really wish I had gone this route rather than multilating my A1200 into a bloody awful Eyetech tower, that did nothing more than take up extra space.  I couldn't even take advantage of the Mediator when it came out because the tower had the motherboard in the wrong way.

It was nearly 10 years ago, but I'm still really angry about that purchase.

er, sorry to highjack the thread, needed to vent that.  Normal service resumes.

Depends on the ebay situation. You know how something can wildly fluxuate in price.  :-o I've seen SquirrelSCSI's go for a decent price there. SCSI gear pricey?? People are practically giving that stuff away. I picked up a SCSI scanner for $0 and CDdrives for $5 and $0.

If you want to transfer files, using the PCMCIA flash card is easiest, or Amiga Explorer through the null modem cable between your PC/Amiga is simple too.
