Capt farce you're a liar you have never brought anything off me has i don't sell nor am i registered with ebay so spread your liars elsewhere :madashell:  i am not him idiot i am just sticking up for him because you's are all low lifes and would not know what amigas are worth here in Aus even you Capt Dropkick know very well these things will sell for more than your poor excuse of what they are worth with expansion card $220.00 yeah that's all you fools can afford Between you's the card is worth more than that, like i stated in earlier email he told me he does not sell overseas and apparently this has got up all your noses because you can't get what you want so did nothing but send him abusive emails well the last laugh will be on him sooner or later they will sell but you's won't have them.  While i'm at it capt dropkick this bloke did sell you your beautiful monitor at the price he wanted not the lies you told earlier that he said he wanted $150.00 for it but never got it? Well has you can see he does not list stuff for less than what he want's so if he wanted $150.00 you would never had got that for $20.00? Does that sound more like the TRUTH? I think he is telling the truth so am pleased to be sticking up for the underdog against all the odds & untruths that are comming from here  :devildance:

Where did I say that? I said the monitor sale was a good deal from the start. I have no problem with this guy at all. When he he threatened to destroy the 1200s if they didn't sell for his original high prices all I said was that he was a bit nutty. He has since dropped the prices and removed the note about destroying them. So I have no issues at all. You on the other hand obviously have gone to a lot of trouble to defend him and pay out insults, joining a web forum just to insult people.

He isn't going to smash something he can get money for, even if it's less than he wants.

My guess is he's having a very public (and embarrassing) dummy spit to try and get more $$$ from a sympathetic buyer.

A1200s with accessories sell for ~$200 here in Aus, $500+ is laughable.

They're not even that rare.

Ok, of all the posts here that i have read in regards to this dude's A1200 in Australia, the post from coldfish is the one that shows how little all of you really know about the value of an A1200 in Australia. I have been buying on ebay since 1998 and for the last year or so, selling on ebay Australia, and i can tell you one thing. I have never seen an A1200 with accessories sell for a mere $200 unless there was something wrong with it. A half R@@ted A1200 could go for as much as $130AU or more. You want to know how i know? Well thats what i got for the last A1200 i sold on ebay that was faulty with only 3.0 roms and no accessories.

coldfish, i give you a challenge, only because i like to put my money were my mouth is. From today on, please post links to all A1200 auctions on ebay Australia so the rest of the world (and those not knowing in Australia) could see just how much an A1200 sells for, and just how uncommon A1200's with accessories really are in the land of OZ. Your full of it and this task will prove it.

Recently on ebay Australia, an 030/40Mhz Cobra card alone sold for $255. A Blizzard 030/50Mhz was always considered a better card and thus sells for a lot more. There is one now in Germany i think with a buy it now price Of $200AU. Now if this card was advertised in Australia, it would fetch upward of close to or more than $300 as these are rarer than A1200's here. Not many people let them go unless they are upgrading to an 060 (which sell for $500+ for a 50Mhz version)or PPC, and i can tell you that not too many people in Australia are doing that. I remember wanting a Blizzard in my A1200 (which i still have and surf the net with) but could only afford the inferior Cobra card. This dude at one stage had his A1200 advertised with the Blizzard for $450, which in Australia is a pretty good price unless your a tight @ss.

Please do not compare Australian prices for vintage Amiga gear with what the rest of the world are selling/paying for. It will never be the same as the numbers of these machines and peripherals here are way less, and companies making peripherals here were even more scarce, which was one major factor why Aussies paid a lot more for machines and even more for Amiga peripherals. I remember buying heaps of stuff from the UK as prices in Australia were  just crazy.

I have been an Amiga user for over 15 years and have a vast collection of Amiga computers which out of the many non stored, i enjoy using to this day. The biggest joy i get now is watching my 5 year old play games on my A1200.

Well thats all i have to say for now.

Cheers.

I have seen 1200s go for under 200 dollars multiple times on ebay.com.au and they weren't rooted. $200 for an a1200 in good nick is a fair price, a blizzard mkIV for 200-250 is also a fair price. 700-800 dollars is a fricken joke. A 1200 with an 8meg card is not worth 400. All this seller is doing is driving the prices up even further because people will use his non selling auctions as justification for selling their 1200s for even more. I hope that does happen actually, maybe sellers will flood the market and drive the prices down. That's why people do buy it now auctions, because they know the cookie could crumble either way.

@AmigaNut08

I hope your five year old is learning to write better English than you have.  And yes, I am going to be pedantic about this because the situation is appalling; I believe  recent generations are slaughtering the English language.

First off, what is "r@@ted" and "@ss"?  Do you mean "rooted" using the at-sign as an "o", thus giving "oss" as well?   Or perhaps you meant "raated" and "ass," using the at-sign as an "a".

Secondly, the contraction for "you are" is "you're", not "your" which shows ownership.  As in "you're crazy" or "you're making facts out of your opinions," etc.

Other than that, you make a compelling argument. As much as those minor issues have grated my nerves, you have piqued my interest.  I for one am curious to observe for myself the differences in Amiga hardware markets.

And for those who throw up their (not "there" nor "they're") arms in disgust when reading a post like mine, where do we draw the line?  At what point do we say enough is enough?  Communication is of paramount importance to our species, and yet few seem to care if communication is done properly.

I am sure there have been a few A1200 sell for under $200 in the past but not that many recently as buyers really swomp on them when they are at auction with a low starting price. Perhaps the current ebay situation is one excuse for him putting a high starting price on his A1200's as ebay has done a good job at scaring many sellers and buyers with this whole Paypal only crap.

Anyway lets stick to the original topic. You say that $200 for an Amiga 1200 is a fair price. I agree. You also say that $200-$250 for a blizzard mkIV is a fair price. I could live with that. You then say that $700-$800 dollars is a fricken joke. I totally agree here as well. If you read my first post i say, "This dude at one stage had his A1200 advertised with the Blizzard for $450, which in Australia is a pretty good price unless your a tight @ss." So dont you think the asking price of $450 for both items you mention (plus he is giving more in the way of large HD, software ect) is fair???

Bottom line, i am not here to argue with anyone especially anyone from Melbourne Australia as i know a few of you. I am just commenting on his auction while at the price of $450 with the Blizzard which i think is a fair price, and to argue the fact that us Aussies have always paid more for anything Amiga.

Cheers

Bottom line ...

It doesn't matter where in the world you are, everybody pays different prices for things

Can we now put this thread to bed or are people just going to use it as a sounding off board for their country and their prices?

In answer to your question, Yes i mean rooted and the other word ass. I have always used different characters to bleep out (if i may use that term) the obvious in case of language filters placed on message boards that remove vulgar words from posts automatically.

I would just like to say one more thing. Dont bring my son into this argument about writing better English. Bringing innocent children into an argument is just not right and will only piss lots of people off. I only mentioned him in my post because of how delighted i am to watch him use my Amiga which was one of my very first computers (well first 32bit computer anyway as my first was a Commodore Vic20 back in 1985 which i still have). I did not buy a PC till early 2001.
Don't be too pedantic about peoples grammar on these message boards as there are greater issues that people have to face in everyday life such as interest rate rises and the ever growing cost of food and petrol. As long as we all know what we are talking about here, nothing else should matter.

Cheers

Here's an 030/50Mhz card with scsi 2 that sold for for just over $350AU. Pretty cheap for Aussies now compared to the price we paid when these were the ducks guts in computing.

Guess what, Who are all the Doomy's now!!! He has sold one for $280.00 and for your info DOOMY!!! he does not accept paypal, that is why he listed originaly with the bin so he could fluff ebay off, because Aussie sellers & buyers were being forced to use paypal only which they won't accept now thieve bay has decided not to continue to fight it in court.      :devildance:
