Well....after a screen freeze up, I tried rebooting only to get the HD starting to load then stop then a blinking power light. Tried rebooting with HD disconnected and from floppy...no go. Pulled all cards out + memory then tried rebooting from floppy .....no go :-(  :-(  :-(

Any sugestions?????
I think my 040 processor is dead. I hope not  :-x  :-x

Heh, I've got three 68040s here, only one of them plugged into anything (and that Mac isn't in use at all)  ;-)

I've never heard of a 68040 dying, though. These things are like the monsters in Alien. Impossible to kill.

I hope you left the 2 MB chip ram on the motherboard! Else you won't be able to boot or see anything!

Disconnect everything except from the ROM, the CPU card (a 040 one? If it's an accelerator try to unplug all the memory on it, if this is possible -the CSPPC for example needs at least a pair of simms to function- ), and the 2 MB of chip RAM on the motherboard. Then power up the machine, and watch the screen (Is there any shades of gray alternating sequence on the reset/boot?) . Try doing so with the two mouse buttons pressed (for the early boot menu).

A4000D, A3640 OC-36.3MHz, custom tower, Mediator A4000D. Diamond Banshee 16M, Indivision AGA 4000, GVP HC+8.

Mac Mini 1.5GHz, that might run MorphOS someday, when the fools who own it come to the realization that 30 minutes just isn\'t enough time to play with it enough to decide whether or not you like it enough to cough up $200.

 - Someone please design SOME kind of DIY accelerator for the A4000. :D -

try to remove or tilt the 2 ROMs and reinsert again. (if they are socked).

Before towerize my A4000D, i had the same problem sometimes.

I think could be a PSU and cooling problem also.

While my 4000s have gone on strike several times, it's always been the fault of the connector underneath the 3640 CPU daughterboard. It sits on four nylon standoffs, with no indent and nothing to secure it. If the plug works its way out through vibration, a bump (or a tilt) or just years of alternate heating and cooling, it'll fail for sure.

I'd check that the CPU board is plugged in firmly. At least one of my CPUs has to be held in place with a cable tie to keep it working.
