Buyer beware!

I found this the other day and wrote to the seller to tell him that he is mistaken about his item having anything to do with the Amiga, it is just a 386sx on an ISA card and his claims were incorrect.  Below is his reply, so I think you should all beware any dealings with Don Lee, aka "Demo" & demopoly1 on eBay.

It is laughable that he thinks it is worth $399 Before he changed the auction details, I think it said it was a 12mHz 386sx.

Well, I am glad that someone appreciates that it is misleading and not that I am being too "Anal".  I really only contacted the guy to give him a chance to correct the listing, but after he wrote that reply to me, I really let him have it in my last message to him.  He ticked me off.

at the bottom of the page of the listing of that item you find a "report" button, I suggest you guys use it. I used it to inform Ebay that the listing has a misleading title and item description. I'm sure that if more people report this they will not be able to ignore it

It's doomy - That's axactly the same rude obnoxious kind of message that he sent me on another auction. He just opens new accounts to post, new auctions. This guy should have been busted by the FBI by now.

Federal Fraud laws related to interstate commerce should apply. I urge anyone who's been burnt to report him to the authorities.

I used to work on/with systems that used those type cards. You had a overly large pc case that would accept 8 or more cards. The outputs of each card would connect by loooooong cables to a monocrome terminal on user's desk. They would run text/field based apps like word processing and spread sheets as if they had a full pc at their desk. If I recall, it was a bit cheaper to use this setup than to put a box at everyone's desk. The last ones I remember came with CGA color.

I like the seller's comment saying that more photo's cost money. Yeah right, like you can't email for free. What's he doing? Developing 8*10 glossys in his own dark room? :-P

You honestly think ebay would make it that easy for you to report any suspect auctions.
That they actually employ enough staff to deal with all the "suspect" auctions that exist.
They would rather show you a nice FAQ page that puts you off from going any further.

ebay (like everyone else)police their sites to the min requirements, maintenance always has the lowest budgets.

I did indeed try the report link. I even got an e-mail from ebay:

Hey, if someone wants something like this for free then I have all of the internals from an old Heathkit from the early 80's.

Both cards from the system look like ISA and one is the CPU/video. I don't have the cards in front of me, but theres a second card that I don't remember what it does. I think the CPU is an 8088.

I also have the Zenith service/assemble manual that went with the computer that the cards came in originally. It has all of the board's schematics in it.
