MMC Replay price and USA availability warning + more
« on: April 24, 2008, 01:00:11 AM »
This is just a friendly warning about the MMC Replay, as I know from our communication there are many AO users with interest in this great product. My current stock is down to 3 pieces. I have more on order, but availability of the shipment from Germany will not be until sometime mid-May. Furthermore the USD continues to be the whipping boy of the EUR, therefore unfortunately as my costs go up there will be a price increase starting on this next batch. This will also pertain to most of the store in the near future.

I will be out of town May 3 through May 7. I am undecided at this point if I will temporarily close the eBay store during these days or not. Either way any orders during this period will not ship until May 8 or 9.

Finally, I will slowly be introducing Amiga classic parts back into the eBay store over the next several months. The first 2 products are the Amiga 500 clockport adapter and Keyrah -Amiga edition. Both of which will be available in mid-May.

I just want to back Red up here and say, as an owner, that this cartridge is worth every penny.  I've updated the ROM with the latest software which is constantly being developed and also added the *.t64 plug-in which enables me to mount and run tape images as well as the usual disk images.  Get 'em while you can.  :-)

@Darrin

Thanks :-) BTW You've provided some good information in other threads! I may compile some of that into a running faq, if you have any more wisdom please pass it on :-D

The only thing that I'll reitterate is that you have to use the v0.04 tape plug-in and not the newer v0.07 version.

Oh, and the assign your real floppy to drive #10!  :)

I got the MMC Replay and I think its great Probably the best thing Ive bought in a long time.

I got the T64 plugin and it just froze everything. I think I must be using the v0.07 one but I dont know where to get the older one.
Instead I use one of the other menu plugins and it works fine.

I was a bit Peeved about the D64 emulation. I was led to believe that all D64's can be mounted and loaded but every game Ive tried with multiple files has failed to work so im still having to use the 1541.

Still if you have a C64 or C128 then you really should get one of these

Games with no built in fast load usually work, such as Jumpman. Check out the DFIPlugin and use IDE64 fixed games.

At least the MMC Replay makes it easy to write them back to real disks and they can be run from them.

What I really want now is a selectable multi-cartridge device for the C128 so that I don't have to keep unplugging them when I want to swap between the MMC and Simons' Basic.

would it be ok (forget games on more than one disk exist for this example) to just have one floppy in the disk drive constantly and just keep writing to it when I want to change game. Or would that just break the disk

Theoretically that should work just fine, but in practice the D64 writing is kind of slow. The disk itself should handle it just fine.
