C128 and 80 columns

I have connected my C128 to a 1084S. I have a 40 column cable with the din connector on one end and two "RCA" style jacks on the other end. I have an 80 column cable with "d sub" connectors on both ends. 40 column works perfectly, but when I switch to 80 column mode the display scrolls as if there is a problem with the vertical hold or something. Any ideas what could be wrong here? I looked for a vertical hold adjuster on the monitor but I didn't see one.

Um, last I checked this was an Amiga forum?  

I think you have to press some buttons on the monitor to put it into digital mode from what I remember.  Should be on the back of the CRT...

Yeah but the C128 is very similar in look to the A500

Oh knock it off. I've found many users here who are also C= 8 bit enthusiasts. I emailed Paul, former owner of the 64 and More Store. He mentioned to me there is a small vertical h old screw on the back. I will check it when I get home.

I think I know what monitor you're talking about.  There ought to be a switch on the back labeled "RGBMode" near that D-sub connector.  Options are analog and digital.  Analog is for use with the Amiga; Digital is for your C128.  Having it set on analog might cause the symptoms you describe.

EDIT: Also check to be sure you're not using a null-modem serial cable by accident!

I have read from others that the D2 does not support the C128's 80 column mode.
