Has Genesi really taken the initiative to "associate themselves with Merlancia"? Couldn't it be that Merlancia simply plans to buy a bunch of motherboards and put them into their own case design and sell them as "Amiga MCC Systems"?

Merlancia has Genesi under "partners", and I'm pretty sure that's a two-way thing (ie I can't sell hot dogs on the street and say that Oscar Meyer are my partners)

Merlancia are no "partner" of Genesi. Period.

As everyone else, Merlancia is free to buy a Pegasos motherboard and do with it whatever they like. That does not make them a business partner of Genesi. End of story.

>Incredible!!! Merlancia and Genesi are partners!!!!!!!
>WOW! I'm shocked.....

This issue has been discussed already several
months ago. Merlancia always wanted to use the
Pegasos/MorphOS for their 'products' and have
always announced that. However AFAIK there is no
partnership between Merlancia and Genesi.
Merlancia may get a motherboard if they order and
pay it. That's all.

Argh! Not Merlancia!

I get a mail saying "Thank you for e-mailing Merlancia Industries.... " every stinkin' week. Thing is that I've NEVER emailed them.

Well, that sounds about par for the course for "Dr" Czerwinski then.    The page does seem out of date - Downix is mentioned as "a Merlancia partner for the design and production of the Merlancia Amiga MCC", and I'm pretty sure he's a Genesi employee, presumably spending a lot more time on the Peg2 than on the MCC :-D

We have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with Merlancia!

They are not our partners.

We have NEVER had a single transaction or agreement between us.

We do not intend to work with Merlancia on any basis.

The claims they make on their website are FALSE!

Sincerely,
Raquel and Bill

YAY!!! Somebody important got on and settled something before there were 900,000 posts of speculation and insults flying everywhere FOR ONCE!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks bbrv, I now have a little less dread when I start to read a thread that begins with a quote from some website somehwere regarding an Amiga/Amiga-ish product.

It isn't new. I remember seeing it 6 months ago when I was looking for new information on Merlancia's cancelled product line.

Thanks for the clarification Bill.

Well I like the MCC design, so I would be happy to have my puter in that case.
But I can live without it..

No, we are not partners. We were at one time discussing affilliation, which eventually fell through. Though we may use Pegasos products in our systems at some point, we are not partnered with Genesi (which entails a two way relationship). If we were, you would have long ago seen a Merlancia logo on their website somewhere.

Please note the 'Partners and Affiliates" tagline, and keep in mind that this portion of the merlancia.com website has not been updated in 6 months, as it is awaiting confirmation from other companies. The listing in question was made in November of 2002 when we were in discussions over several matters, few of which finalised.

Genesi makes quality products and we may use some of them as OEM parts. This is not the same as an industrial partnership and should not be taken as such. The Partners and Affiliates pages will be updated in one to two weeks with current information, and annotations as to the status of each relationship listed from thereon.
