2007 was pretty a good Amiga year for me as well. I picked up a super high-end A500 for free. It had a GVP 530 accelerator (40 MHz 030, 8 MB 32-bit RAM, 170 MB HD), 2 MB Chip RAM (Fatter Agnus), ICD Flicker Fixer, ROM Switcher (1.3 and 2.04) and a ton of software, spare parts and accessories. It also came with a 1950 MultiScan monitor.

I also upgraded the RAM and Hard Drive on my Amithlon machine, 384 MB to 768 MB RAM, 15 GB to 40 GB IDE hard drive, besides the 9.1 GB SCSI hard drive it already had. I also managed to install AmigaSys' new Amithlon package on it.

A1000 - 2 Floppies, 2 MB RAM, OS 1.0-1.3
A500 - 170 MB HD, 8 MB RAM, OS 1.3/2.04
A2000 - 350 MB HD, 8 MB RAM, A2630, OS 2.04
A2500 - 540 MB HD, 8 MB RAM, A2630, OS 3.9
A1200 - 20 GB HD, 64 MB RAM, Blizzard IV
Amithlon - 49 GB HD, 768 MB RAM, PIII-1G
AROS - 80 GB HD, 2 GB RAM, P4-3.2GHz

Hi,

@Fixer

I will drink to everything that you said, but,

I would really like to thank Bill Gates for bringing out Vista, for almost taking over the computer market completely (all except for Apple), having software companies make software only for Microsofts OS's especially games, and for all the very intelligent people who supported Bill Gates and Microsoft to bring computing to this marvelous point:

Constant reactivation whenever you change something into your computer.

Bringing out ActiveX 10, so everybody bought ActiveX 10 cards, only to announce that ActiveX 10.1 will be the new standard but the new activeX 10 cards won't support it.

Making Vista so that most of the old games will no longer work on your computer.

Constant crashes on your computer.

Face it Bill you finally done it, without ever developing a computer and just by making up an operating system, you have taken over the computer world, you have taken over everybody's computer, telling them what they can put in their computers, and have made a way to make MicroSoft richer by saying that after the third reactivation, you need to spend another $59.00 to get a new activation key. Everybody take your hats off to Mr. Bill Gates and MicroSoft because now they not only own your OS, but they also control your computer almost lock, stock and barrel.

Come on Amiga Inc. I am tired of waiting and will probably soon be switching over to Apple who controls everything on their computers.

Only OS left is Linux, and hardly anybody supports that for commercial software.

I will also drink to that all the new high powered games only run on MicroSoft's OS's. (even EA's today)

The future is looking mighty bleak.

I have no idea what your talking about, so here is a doggy with a small pancake on his head.

MorphOS is a MAC done a little better

2007 was the year that:

- I sold my A1200 PPC. I now have no Amiga's around. :-(
- I used some of the money to buy an Asus eeePC, which I promptly installed UAE on of course. :-)
- My game project project came to a grinding halt in July.
- I'm starting to code, I like it again. Give this 3 months.
- The only game I played all the way through was STALKER.
- I am saving to buy another Amiga, good grief they are getting expensive on eBay. Time to try Craigslist.
- The GF and I are now just room-mates.  :roll:
- After 3 years of progressively decreasing amounts of hard work, being a Unix admin is now great. For the most part things are maintenance free. The cronjobs click away and I surf slashdot and lurk around amiga.org :lol:

Well, it's been exactly 10 years since the last issue of the Italian Amiga Magazine had been published. I can still remember buying that issue like it was yesterday (I was still living in Italy back then). It was an amazing mag which I've almost completed the web archive of - big thanks to everybody who helped with the project.

- I got a 68030 accelerator for the A600 - something I've always wanted. :-D

- I did not buy any more x86 hardware, but another PPC based machine found way to my home. (PS3) :lol:

Happy 2008 everyone!

Hehe!!! I though 3DRealms had long since vanished! Gave up waiting for Duke Nukem Forever just about forever ago!!!

And... @GreggBz: how well does UAE run on the eeePC? Is it powerful enough to do the emulated Amiga justice?

 That was a year with some nice things appearing for the Amiga community:

 - Minimig;

 - AOS4;

 - Floppy Emulator;

 - "Home brew" A601 and 8Mb RAM inside the A600;

 - A "new" way to modify pc's floppy units to work on any Amiga.

 A lot of other stuffs and goods for us people.

 Not bad at all.
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

For me it's been high and low...

In Amiga terms it's been great, a few niggles but very eventful with a load of gear for a good price. But as general life goes it's got recently very bad for me and it's really unknown how it will effect me in the future. Only time will tell I suppose but what can I say? Life sucks (most of the time). :lol:

Overall though it's been good enough but I can't help but think with every passing year, it gets steadly more dissapointing. Or maybe it's me age'n? :roll:

- Purchased a few Amiga 2000s, upgraded them, tinkered...

- Familiarized myself with OS 1.3, 3.1, and 3.5 after years of absence.

- Finally installed WinUAE and moved put my old hardware to rest temporarily.

- Installed Catweasel MK4.

- Tried AROS on vmware.

In 2008, I hope to put my old 2000s back in my home office. I hope to maximize my use of WinUAE at the same time. I may build a Minimig. Amiga is both nostalgia and a curiosity hobby for me. I've been keeping an eye on threads about programming and may experiment with that.

Going off-topic for a moment, how well does UAE run on the eeePC? I've got one on order (for th "gadget factor" more than anything) so I'd be interested to know :-)

2007 was the first time a new AmigaOS was released which I couldn't afford.

Thankfully I got the final cut of Blade Runner for X-Mas.

Well, after all it was a nice year:

Good stuff:

    - I've found Amiga.org and signed up :-)
    - I'm finally leading the development of our new line of products in my job
    - I've bought my own house
    - Rediscovered my Amiga

Bad stuff:

    - Had my car stolen  :-(   (that beatiful 72 green Chevy Opala on the avatar :-D - rest in peace my friend)
    - Couldn't finish restoring the other one (a 66 Aero Willys)
    - OS4 is out and I don't have a PPC board

    Quite well balanced. Let's wait 2008.

    Happy new year Amigans !

-Fell in love with Amiga after many years of using PeeCee.
-Bought an A1200
-Bought a 040 PPC turbo and modded it to 060 thanks for the helpers in this forum.
-Recently (today) sold my PPC card and Bvision (with a nice profit).

With the money I got from the PPC and Bvision
-Bought a Blizzard 1260
-Bought a Pegasos G4 1000Mhz
-I'm currently eyeing a Samsung 225MW TV/Monitor (lots of Amiga compatible inputs).

Yeah and if its any indication, if I was iD software I'd give them their money back for licensing the D3 engine to stop 3dR from making such an awful looking game with it.
Back away from the EU-SSR!
