Hardwarebased scandoubler in A3000 and 15 Khz PAL
« on: November 27, 2007, 10:33:35 AM »
Hi!

I just bought myself an Amiga 3000 desktop and wonder if floppybased games (non operatingsystemdependent games) will work on standard PC VGA monitor. Will the hardwarebased scandoubler fix this issue?

I´m still waiting for my computer to be sent so i have not tested this. Will it double the frequency from PAL 15 khz to the double?

yes, all software that uses the chipset will show on a normal VGA monitor on the A3000 , you don't have to worry about it  :-D

Might not work on some LCD monitors because the vertical refresh rate will still be 50Hz.

Double check the minimum vertical refresh rate of your monitor from the technical specs. If it say 56Hz chances are it wont work.

You can force 60Hz for most things in software.

If you have KS3.1 you can do it in the early startup menu.

Hold down both mouse buttons on reboot and press space(?) to switch to 60Hz

Dunno, some cheap VGA CRT monitors also cannot do 50Hz.

Problem:
Some cheap ripoff scam VGA monitors refuse to display a 50hz screen.
