"Ninety percent of 961 IT professionals surveyed said they have concerns about migrating to Vista and more than half said they have no plans to deploy Vista," Denise Dubie reports for Computerworld UK.

"The survey, echoing one from Forrester last week, shows most IT professionals are worried about Vista and that 44% have considered non-Windows operating systems, such as Linux and Macintosh, to avoid the Microsoft migration," Dubie reports.

"Macintosh leads the pack of Vista alternatives, with support from 28% of respondents. About a quarter said they would opt for Red Hat Linux, with SUSE Linux and Ubuntu each garnering 18% of the vote. Another 9% cited other Linux operating systems and 4% were unsure," Dubie reports.

Umm, actually it doesn't.  It shows that IT Pros choose XP over Vista (for now) and Linux over OSX for non-Windows alternatives.

Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

I love the way they have to divide all the Linux counts separately, to make it look like OS X comes out on top.

Its so annoying how they div up Linux ! I Agree.

Also i'm sure they are neglecting to mention some other rock solid OS's that would have been selected because they are not "Cool"

BSDS and other Nixes etc

Yeah, what with all the flavors being compatible and whatnot.

Speaking from an Education sector standpoint, the TCO for a Vista migration would be huge given the not-so-spiffy workstation specs we have. I'd imagine it would cost a good three to four years worth of funding per site to cover just the hardware replacement. You would then have to consider how much it would cost to find equivilant Vista compatible apps, as so far, our ALPHA testing has show that Vista kills approximately 90% of our existing software. Good one Bill...
