1200 Ethernet
« on: September 16, 2007, 10:46:12 PM »
Hi Guys,

I have seen it is possible to hook the 1200 up to ethernet to gain access to the web.

I just need a few pointers, if you could be so kind:

Am I right in thinking that the PCMCIA card needs to be 16 bit, and not 32 bit?

Also if anyone could advise a card and where to get the driver for it it would be much appreciated. As yet though I have not decided on wired or wireless, so advice on both would be great.

Cheers Guys!   :-)

The PCMCIA-card should indeed be 16 bit and not a 32 bit one. Many regular PCMCIA-networkcards can be used, just check if they are compatible with the two drivers on Aminet that Piru mentions.

I use a 3C589 (3Com) myself. Works great, although don't expect higher speeds than about 250-350 KB/s.
Life sucks. Then you die. Then they throw mud in your face. Then you get eaten by worms. Be happy it happens in that order... My Amiga 1200

So do I

For file transfer, this cards driver, SMBFS, and AmiTCP all running together works quite well.
